We have a full service K-9 Academy that will provide your department with a dog and the initial handler / dog training. During the Academy your officer will be taught basic training methods, deployment techniques / applications, report / record keeping, tactical considerations and legal case law information. We provide your officer with our written course material and start up K-9 equipment: leash, collar and dog bowls. Our facilities do not at this time have on - site sleeping quarters. There are several hotels within 30 minutes travel time, which do accept dogs and offer the government rates for rooms. We can provide you with that information upon request. We also offer monthly maintenance training for your team. This training is currently conducted at various locations throughout the Lehigh Valley (Eastern PA - Western NJ). This program consists of 2 training days per month, 8 hrs per day wich is the current recommended industry standard. Our program helps your department keep the team at a proficient working level. If a problem is encountered, our trainers will help identify and resolve the problem before it becomes a liability issue. All training is documented for department purposes. |
We will keep your team up to date on the latest training and deployment methods and Federal and State case law. We will assist you with getting the cooperation of everyone involved from department administrators to fellow trainers and handlers. Realizing that maintaining a K-9 Unit (for any size dept.) can be a difficult task, we would like to reassure you that our staff is dedicated to providing the quality training and assistance that you deserve. We can assist your team with yearly certifications also, but Progressive K-9 Academy does not act as a certifying official. We believe that there is a conflict of interest when this occurs, so we assist in obtaining judges from other national police dog associations. Or if your department wishes to certify under their own standards we can assist with that. Currently the teams we train with are certifying under the Eastern Police Canine Association. |

NARCOTIC DETECTION DOGS We have a full service K-9 Academy for Narcotic Detection training. Dogs will be trained for the odors of Marijuana, Heroin, Cocaine and Methamphetamine. We will train your K-9 team to propely find narcotics and do drugs busts.  EXPLOSIVE DETECTION DOGS At our full service K-9 Academy we can provide your Dept. with a dog trained for the detection of explosives. We are licensed by the ATF and the PA DEP.  |
PATROL / DUAL PURPOSE DOGS Our Academy will train your K-9 team to propely deploy for suspects in Buildings and Open Areas, Officer protection, Suspect apprehension, Article / Evidence search, Detection, variable surface tracking, basic to advanced obedience and Agility.  MAINTENANCE TRAINING We will keep your K-9 unit up to date on the latest training and deployments methods and State and Federal case law. All training is documented for department purposes..  |
