Doug Wendling has been involved with dogs for almost his entire life. He has been training dogs for the civilian sector since the mid 1980's and began training with police dogs in 1995. He is the owner and trainer of Progressiev K-9 Academy.

He is a training instructor for the Police k-9 Training Institute of Florida and the Southern Tier Police Canine Association Inc. He has also instructed at numerous police k-9 seminars around the USA. He is a top ranked helper / decoy in North America, having decoyed for national schutzhund trails and numerous regional and local events.

Doug Wendling is also decoyd for police certification trails, protection sports association and national association of protection dog trails. He is also been to Europe to learn how to decoy knpv-style and how to proper handle knpv trained dogs.

Darrin Wendling became a police officer in 1990 and is currently working for a regional police department in Eastern Pennsylvania. He has been involved with police dogs since 1997 and has been handling a dog since 1998. He is currently a team sgt. handling his second patrol / narcotics dog. During that time he has worked with various local, state and federal agencies. He is also a regional assistant supervisor for a county narcotics task force, where he has participated in all aspects of narcotics investigations.

Prior to becoming a police officer he served fur years in the United States Marine Corps. During his active duty he was assigned to a marine barrack overseas (security forces), where he was also a member of the Marine Detachment Emergency Reactionary Team. After completing his tour with the security forces he was reassigned to the infantry. He served the remaining two years to the 1st Mar Div, based out of Camp Pendelton, CA. While in the infantry he was a fire team and squad leader.
